Can’t hear alerts or sounds when music is playing on AirPods.

Hello, I’ve had this problem for a week now, whenever I put on my AirPods and music, all the alerts, the sound of texting, all of them are literally really quiet and it’s annoying and inconvenient, I need to fix this asap, thanks to this issue I’ve missed a lot of important stuff.

I have already read many articles and tried to do a lot, this issue appeared on 12th December 2022, does anyone know how to fix this?

No matter how loud the music is, the notifications will be really quiet to the point you can barely hear them.

When I have the AirPods on without music, the volume of all alarms, sounds, everything’s fine. When the music is on, everything is quiet.

Please help me!!!

It’s not a problem with ring/silent mode nor a problem with focus, I’ve ruled those already out.

Hello karl_detnon,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you've taken some great steps so far. We'd recommend looking at Adjust the volume of sound effects for AirPods next to see if the settings there may make a difference. For instance, use the guidance in the following section to make sure accessibility settings aren't a factor.

"Change the volume of sound effects using iPhone or iPad

  1. Wear your AirPods, and make sure they’re connected to your device.
  2. On your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Accessibility > AirPods.
  3. Select your AirPods, then adjust Tone Volume.

For more options—such as Headphone Accommodations—tap Audio Accessibility Settings. See Set headphone accommodations for AirPods."

If the same continues, this may be unexpected behavior that Apple will need to look in to further. You can reach out directly from Apple Support.

Kind regards.

karl_detnon,

We appreciate those additional details. If you are not seeing an option for Headphone Accommodations under Settings > Accessibility > Audio/Visual, then we would still recommend reaching out to Apple Support. They would be the best equipped to investigate this further. You can contact them using the link we previously sent over or by calling the phone number most applicable to you from here: Contact Apple for support and service

Take care!
