" By default, your Mac laptop with Apple silicon asks that you allow a new or unknown accessory to connect. To change this setting "
Not seeing specific mention of Desktop
I have the same issue with my macBook Pro M1 16", where I just upgraded to Ventura 13.3. 13.3, this year is known since December, and there's still no fix, Apple?
I can actually find the setting via the settings search, but when i click the entry, it moves me to the privacy pane, where this setting simply doesn't exist.
Same here. I do not see an "Allow accessories to connect" option in the System Settings, then click Privacy & Security. I have a KVM switch connected to the mouse and keyboard. My Apple M1 Max and Ventura 13.4 is not recognizing, nor is the "Allow accessories to connect" option showing up. However, my Intel MacBook Pro 2018, with Ventura 13.4, recognizes and works just fine.
Happened here too, seemingly after updating my Mac Studio (M1) to Ventura 13.4.1 (c) - one Thunderbolt monitor isn't discovered anymore while the HDMI-connection still works. Changing HDMI-output to TB as well leads to two unrecognized monitors and the option to allow these just has disappeared - while my MacBook Air (M2) still has the option after updating to the last Ventura-release. Not quite easy to reproduce and definitely a bad sign for quality management but these software-glitches have drastically increased over the years...
See this article: Allow accessories to connect to your Mac laptop computer with Apple silicon.
The options missing on my macbook pro with sonoma.
Is it an Apple Silicon MacBook Pro or an Intel MacBook Pro.
The Allow Accessories option only exists on Apple Silicon laptops.
I too am missing this menu in settings. I have an M2 MacBook Pro ...However, I used TimeMachine to transfer over everything from an Intel MacBook Pro. I am having an issue with a smart card reader initializing. I am looking for a plist, or other file to reset all approved/denied devices.
I have the same issue on MBP 2019 (Intel) after upgrading to ventura 13.2
Lenovo thurnderbolt hub is recognized, and works with keyboard, mouse and monitor.
However - Ventura will not allow full resolution of 5120x140 on a Samsung 49" monitor (except in low res mode), nor will it recognize the monitor as two sep monitors when in picture-by-picture mode.
I have researched this extensively on multiple sites and have not found a way around this .... ugh.
Very unhappy that apple releases so many bugs...
I can no longer connect any Garmin devices to my Mac Book Pro. Same thing, connect devices is not showing up in Privacy & Security settings. Come on Apple, been waiting months to get my Garmin Devices connected again!
I have the exact same issue for both my work/personal laptops (2019 models) ever since updating to Ventura. No ability to select/allow use of a thunderbolt accessory. Dell widescreen use to work fine before, but both machines are incapable of supporting the native 5120 resolution. Screen is scrambled and unreadable. Monitor itself is ok, after connecting it to a windows laptop it worked as expected.
If this is apple's way of getting us to buy a M1/2 I'll switch back to windows/linux asap. Nice way to **** on sustainability...
I posted on this thread months ago. It is many devices that this seems to be an issue for connecting since Ventura. I am really surprised apple has done nothing about this. Surely someone at apple wears a Garmin watch, and has figured out they can no longer update it. I have raised this with Garmin as well, as all their products can't be connected to apple any more either. :(
Same issue, no "Allow accessories to connect" option in System Settings (as indicated/suggested in ALL Apple help links). Using Mac mini Pro with Lenovo monitor which is not recognised at startup when connected via USB-C (ie: have to use HDMI to get an image on screen).
So I finally upgraded yesterday to Ventura 13.4. iMac 2021, 16 GB. After the upgrade, everything was working as normal. I have 2 external SSD drives for storage, and a second monitor connected to a Belkin hub. Day one, after upgrade, no problem. Day 2, come into the office, boot up- second monitor not connecting. SSD drives not showing in finder. Use a dongle and re-connect one USB 3.0 SSD and HDMI for the monitor, everything is good, but my devices connected to the Belkin are not visible. The "allow accessories" option is also missing from my settings. Very bizarre that it worked on day one after the Ventura upgrade, but not on day 2. Now I need to find a new 3.0 hub that will work with Ventura? Or is it a waste of my time?
I am trying to connect my Mokin docking station that worked perfectly well until I downloaded the latest version of Ventura 13.4.1 on my MacBook Pro - Intel processor the other day. I do not have the "Allow accessories to connect" option under System Settings, Privacy & Security. I need to get this fixed. Any suggestions? and I've shut down and turned back on, used both sides of the MBP USB device inputs. HELP!
Hi Klairviere, I have not been able to connect my Garmin devices, and am having the same problem. I posted on here quite a while ago. Unfortunately Apple has done nothing about this issue. I have contacted Garmin, and they have told me the fix. But as we have older Mac Devices, after updating to Ventura, we don't seem to be able to complete the "Allow accessories to connect", because it isn't an option. In my opinion this is an oversight by Apple, and nothing is being done to resolve as yet, and it has been months. Quite frustrating!
Same here 2024. Allow accessories to connect within the "privacy and security settings on my Mac studio macOS 12.7.2 Monterey, 64gb. M1 ultra (not seen).
