Macbook Pro won't wake with mouse or keyboard input after 13.1 update

My laptop (16" M1 Pro) will no longer wake with keyboard or mouse input when the laptop is in clamshell mode. If I open the laptop on the desk, connected in every other way, it wakes. If I close the laptop and leave it connected to the Thunderbolt hub (and keyboard, monitor, etc), it will not wake. I've tried three mice, one attached via USB cable, and two connected via Bluetooth, plus a keyboard using a USB dongle. None wake it. Anyone else experiencing this issue find a solution? Thanks

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 13.1

Ugh. Clamshell mode requires a mouse, keyboard and POWER. In the rewiring, my power cable to the Thunderbolt hub had barely disconnected from the adapter. With power, everything works.
