iPhone 14 Mobile Data Not Working - Network Issues

I recently bought an iPhone 14 pro. Randomly I lose the cellular data connection but it still displays as 4g connected. I can only access the internet after restarting my phone. I tried turning data/airplane mode on and off as well but didn’t work. This has happened to me 3 times in the course of 4 days since buying the phone.

UPDATE (PROBLEM FIXED)

I went to my carrier store and got a new duplicate sim for my existing number, now i am not facing any issues. before that i had a visit to apple service center. As they checked, other sim was working fine so i got to know issue is with carrier. Maybe because of 5g sims coming recently and something with bands used in phone and i was using old sim that might have some old bands that could have removed from new phone. not sure but problem fixed

Similar experience on my iPhone 14 Pro Max, with iOS 16.4.1...

When using iPhone 14 Pro Max (without WI-FI service, e.g. highway, supermarket, any where without WI-FI), my device (iPhone 14 Pro Max) ran into connection problems:

1. Safari "Fails" to respond to "search", or "Fails" to load the page from know URL.

Its status shows the device is with signal (level at 4 bar) from LTE cellular network,

It shows status "Safari couldn't open the page because the server stopped responding".

2. Apple Map "Fails" to "load the route" and Could not provide navigation (Device shows Map with "Loading Icon")

Its status shows the device is with signal (level at 2 bar) from LTE cellular network,

It shows status “A” route can’t be shown because of a problem connecting to the server”.

Action-1: I tried to perform "Airplane mode" ON then OFF, which is to "warm boot" the cellular chip/system.

Result 1-1 : "Airplane mode" ON then OFF, did not clear the problem.

Result 1-2: The device's status shows the device is worst with signal (level at 0 bar) from LTE cellular network.

Result 1-3: The device later shows a dialog box "Could not activate cellular data network"

Result 1-4: The device is useless in this condition - it could not get Cellular system working"

Action-2: I tried to perform power-cycle (slide to power off after pressing two buttons)

Result 2-1: "cool boot" whole iPhone 14 Pro Max; and then Re-Start the device see "Apple logo"

Result 2-2: This FIX the problem and Restore Cellular connection and I can use the device as expected.

Later, My iPhone 14 Pro Max would ran into the Cellular connection and the problem repeated when using the device (without WI-FI service.)

A: I noticed this problem with iOS (16.2) and files an problem report on Apple site on Jan 2, 2023;

B: The same problem repeatedly happens even after many upgrade to latest iOS (even with 16.4.1).

C: I brought my device to Apple Store for check up, and I was told there is no HW or RF issue,

D: Store's engineer recommended to do "Erase-Install" the latest IOS 16.4.1 and with iCloud restore.

E. The same problem repeatedly happens even after this Apple Store visit with case number.

Note: I have another iPhone 11 Pro Max, and it does not have this problem.

Currently, Getting Apple Support to help on this ....

I have this issue on iPhone 13 and the Apple support from a major Apple Store and my carrier support has driven me crazy. Apple points at my carrier, my carrier points at Apple. I swapped from eSIM to physical SIM which improved the situation (ie resulted in a lower frequency of drops) but did not fully resolve the issue. My phone was fully up to date with iOS updates etc. Meanwhile my new physical SIM works perfectly in a Google Pixel 6.

I’ve been having the same issue but seems to be data only related. After research and trying so many things I started thinking it was the auto VPN setting that auto turns on (AT&T). I called them today to see what they had to say and that was 3rd on the list but I had always completed all of the other options. I just deleted the VPN in settings instead of trying to keep turning it off. For the love of all, I hope this resolved this nonsense.

Worth backing up your phone then setting up your phone as new & reinstall your back up. Been some phones with issues after iOS update Apple suggests reset of networks settings but this can erase your WiFi connections. If still having issues seek technical support from Apple. Settings General then go to Apple care & warranty and select your iPhone from there

I returned my iPhone 14 Pro Max today. Issue occurred at least 5 times within the 2 week return window. It was randomly dropping the data connection to my cell service. Texts, calls, streaming music services all failed. Even though the cellular strength indicator showed 4-5 bars. From personal observation and while driving using CarPlay, this would happen when the 5G signal changed to LTE. The same would happen at the office. The only workaround I could find was power off/on. Have to admit, its a little dangerous to power off / on and iPhone while driving the freeways. I need my phone to meet basic requirements, such as calls and texts. Too many bugs for me. Because I'm not certain that this can be fixed in firmware I'll have to wait for the next iteration.

Also, the only response from Apple seems to be a single list of troubleshooting steps that have been regurgitated all over the internet. The troubleshooting steps don't work for almost everyone.

for the past 3 months I have the same issues with a 14 pro max is terrible I did everything close open the phone switched the SIM card and check it on another phone if there are network problems everything was fine when the sim was in the other phone.

even the data transfer between my Garmin Tactics 7 Pro Ballistic didn’t work and is lagging sometimes there is no data transfer between the watch and the 14 pro Max extremely disappointed

were other people with 13 pro max and 14 rpm and other types of phones they have signal and everything else working properly my 14 pro max is not working even basic phone calls I can’t make this is outrageous.

Hey!

I have the iPhone 14 Pro for 2 weeks now and am also having problems with connectivity (I am from Germany) Mostly while having bluetooth, mobile data and wifi automatically put on. When changing from a wifi environment to a non wifi environment it takes up to 5-6 minutes to connect to my mobile data. It's SO stupid and annoying. I came from android / an old and very cheap xiaomi (200 € 3,5 years ago) and never experienced such problem.

I am using the same physical sim.

Whenever I am in a wifi enviroment and take wifi off manually it connects INSTANTLY to my mobile data. No problem there - so I assume it has something to do with the automatic connection between those "networks".. when i leave my car with bluetooth connected, it often also disconnects from internet (mobile data , in this case).

So stupid. 1100€ and basic settings are not working. what a disappointment.

@Mhmcv-70: So, same problem here but no VPN installed. Most likely thats not the problem.

Did anyone receive help already?

So I noticed this same issue after I got my iPhone 14 as well. At first I thought it was my service provider that I had been using for years without issue, I changed to another. I am now on my 4th carrier and I am still having issue, I really want to get to the bottom of this. I am getting really tired of things not loading when I have 5G on my phone with all bars all while my husband can get access with his iPhone SE. I kept reading that the updates would fix this, but nothing has changed. I got this in October, so I am getting really frustrated.

I’ve been having the same problem as most people here. I believe the problem is the network & only affects individual phones. Maybe a glitch with the phone in combination with the network.

i recently traveled outside of the us to Central America & had no issues there, I actually experienced faster speeds & better signal. As soon as I flew back, the problem came back. I’ve tried everything from vpn disable network reset with no success. I’ll call T-Mobile one more time.
