AirPod microphone
I’ve got an old pair of AirPods that need to be reset multiple times per day if I want the microphone to work consistently. For newer gen have the same issue? If so, which ones are the best for minimizing ?

Hello,
Try this:
Open the Settings app and go to the Bluetooth section. Next to the AirPods entry on the list of devices, you should see an “i” icon inside of a circle. Tap this, then select microphone, and set it to either left, right or automatic. Try switching it back and forth.
Then, test with the Voice Memos app.
Good luck.

Troubleshooting AirPods Microphone:
A. Interference:
This is likely an error with interference. So, start here: If your AirPods Pro make crackling or static sounds - Apple Support
B. If Used in a Closed Space:
Does it sound muffled? If you are using these in a closed room, then echos can come about
C. Get a Full Charge:
Go Here: Charge your AirPods with Charging Case and Learn About Battery Life - Apple Support
D. Get Debris Out:
Use a microfiber cloth to clean the microphone part end.
E. Volume Input:
I guess what would really help us is 1) someone who has experience with the first AirPod. And 2) if one has to continuously reset on the newer models. Do the newer models have to be continuously reset? Reset every day? Every week or so? Never need to be reset?
Thank you MrBill3. After I click on the i inside the circle there is no “microphone” to choose/click on. Could I simply have an early AirPod without this feature?
Thank you for your response “the littles.” These are the fixes I find when I google the issue but not related to the problem I’m experiencing.
