Constant highlighting

My macbook air m2 keeps highlighting everything. Ive been through multiple apple forums and a lot of the old settings that used to fix this are gone. I thought it was the tab button, but it did it without the tab button being clicked. By highlight, i mean its taking the accent color and making random boxes/selections with it. I changed it to graphite in order to make it a lot less obvious but its still there doing it. Ive been through almost all settings i can find to help. this didnt start occurring until i updated to the recent ventura update.

Hey there saeraa,

That's a strange thing to occur! While you may need to have a tech take a closer look at your Mac in person, we'd like to first confirm more details to better understand the issue, along with ruling out some possible causes:

  1. When did this first start to occur?
  2. Does this only happen within a specific app?
  3. How often does this occur, and have you noticed that it only happens after performing a certain action on your Mac?
  4. Is there anything connected to your Mac besides the charging cable?
  5. Sometimes unexpected behavior can be resolved with a restart. Check out the section ‘Restart your Mac' here: Log out, sleep, wake, restart, or shut down your Mac
  6. We see you're up to date with macOS 13.1, but we also recommend making sure that all apps are up to date: How to manually update apps on your Apple device

Cheers!
