Is it possible to purchase a replacement battery for an iPad?

Is it possible to purchase a replacement battery for an iPad when the battery is not defective, it has lost the ability to hold a charge due to normal wear and tear?

What happens when the battery in the new iPad you buy today loses 50% of its ability to hold a charge in 2 years?

Typically, most Apple store locations DO NOT do any type of repairs or actual iPad battery replacement.

To expedite quick and speedy customer service, many Apple store locations will ONLY offer in/out-of-warranty device replacement for any iPad repair or battery replacement circumstance.

A device replacement, in lieu of an actual battery replacement, for an iPad is $99 U.S.D., plus tax.

Time to use the “Support” link, in the top black Apple Website menu bar, at the upper right hand corner of every Apple Support Community Webpage to attempt to schedule an appointment with your nearest Apple Store location to have your iPad evaluated/diagnosed and options presented to you.

Apple Store employees will be glad to help/assist you.

Apple classify devices within support - and for older devices that are no longer sold, are classified as “vintage” (for which hardware service and parts remain available) or “obsolete” - at which time no parts or service are available.

More information about available out-of-warranty services can be found here:

System software updates are generally only supported for five to seven years from release of the product. Unlike hardware support, the end of update support is not calculated from end-of-sale.
