Can’t download apps to the Apple Watch from the Watch app on iPhone

Hello,

I previously had a separate Apple ID for my media&subscriptions on my iPhone, but I’ve changed it to one general Apple ID for everything several months ago. I just purchased an Apple Watch yesterday and now it keeps asking me for the password for the old Apple ID whenever I want to download an app from the Watch app on my iPhone. I tried to double check, my Apple Store on the watch indicates that I’ve signed in to the correct Apple ID and lets me download apps, but they then don’t appear on the Watch app on my iPhone. I’ve tried to sign in to the correct Apple ID from the Watch app, and it also lets me do this, but when I want to download an app, it signs me out and keeps asking for the password for an old Apple ID. I don’t have this issue with any other my devices (I use an iPad and a MacBook as well). Is there anything I could do?

Thank you!

Hi cyl-art,

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today.

If you go to your iPhone and tap Settings > [Your Name] > Media & Purchases > View Account, is your new Apple ID here? If it isn't, sign out and enter your new Apple ID and password.

Have you tried using Family Sharing to share purchases between the two Apple IDs? You may be interested in this to share purchases. This article will explain the process further: Set up Family Sharing.
