Frustrated that I can't select photo album to upload from when online

When wanting to upload pictures from Photos online (e.g. Facebook, Snapfish), I can no longer choose specific albums to get them from (it only allows access to the whole library). This only started after updating to Ventura 13.0. How can I regain access to specific folders, as searching for specific photos is difficult?

You are running Ventura, so you may be running into a glitch in the way Photos is handled in the File Upload routine. It used to show all your albums, but now it shows only the full Library.

Then, as you discovered, you have to work around it for now. The search box is available, so you can try searching for your picture with its file name, a keyword you've assigned, a person, or a title. It helps to add keywords or titles to pictures as you go so you can find them later.

You can, before the upload, select your pictures in Photos, and then add a keyword, maybe Facebook010923 or something, to the info window (command-I) all at once. Then the search should give you all the pictures.

The other option that you are using now is to export the pictures you're going to use to a folder, perhaps on you desktop. Then you can upload from there.

Hey there aiylah_joy,

Is this only happening with third-party apps? If so, check to see if the following steps help: If an app on your Mac stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open.

If you can use albums in the Photos app but are not able to send to third-party apps, try adding the photo from within the app. Does that make a difference?

Let's see if the steps in this guide help: Create and work with albums in Photos on Mac. If the issue continues, reach out to Apple Support for further assistance: Contact Apple Support.

Take care.

Using the search field in the upload panel, as recommended by Richard, is really very versatile. I second this suggestion. You can search for the date, the filename, keywords and combine the search criteria. Her is an example of searching for all photos tagged with the rating ★★★★★ and taken in the year 2011:

This is happening in any browser platform on my Mac. It was never a problem before the last OS update. Having to find pictures from the whole Library is very tricky and laborious, particularly when I am wanting to upload multiple images at a time. My workaround solution for now is to copy all of the images I want into a folder in Pictures, and then upload from that folder. It's quicker than having to find and add each image, but they are unnecessary steps I never had to do before.
