I took the advice from someone in this discussion & updated my Sony Bravia tv’s software. This happened overnight & this morning after I restarted my tv-my Apple TV app worked! No problems anymore.

Even though I had checked “update automatically “ I still had updates to load. Whatever it was, it worked.

Hope your fix is this easy.

Me too, we have a sickly cool sony oled and the apply tv 4k is not running clear picture on the Apple TV app. However, we signing in to the Sony’s android Apple TV and the cleaning on the shows is 4 times clearer. The blacks, the whites, colors and images are sharp to the she’s and detail. We have some of the best top tier cables for our Apple TV so I think the bluff and lack of picture qualify is on the Apple TV and the app it’s self. We raised the pictures settings on the tv and on the Apple TV app works flawless via the Sony android system. FLAWLESSLY!

This is the only thing that worked for us too! Thank you! (Go to settings and change "Limit Streaming to SD" to ON)

I had this issue with my Sony TV and read all these answers. In the end I updated the software on the TV which immediately fixed the issue.

Update your TV = problem solved.

Apple support said there’s a lot of complaints about this with SONY TVs but couldn’t explain why.

We turned on to play in SD only- this worked for 90% of pixelation. He then recommended I connect my internet by Ethernet cable instead of Wifi, which I did… this solved the pixelation problem in SD but the pixelation in HD 4K remains unchanged. So this is a solution for SD viewing only….

The Apple TV interface and trailers work perfectly in SD and 4K. I don’t have issues with any other streaming app, like most people.

I found the same issue from time to time when watching directly from Apple servers.

seems to be solved when downloading content on external device, such as an Iphone, and then mirroring to AppleTV app from device.

I changed the setting fro HD to SD and that helped a lot BUT it still pixelates occasionally on SD. My internet provider said that it’s a broad cast issue not an interned issue. I’m going to cancel Apple after the series I’m watching is over. It’s not worth paying for lousy reception

Change video settings to SD only

Streaming and 4k:

Is your TV intended for streaming? If not, then it may just not work, being some movies are 4K. So, research the model number, seeing if it will work with a streaming device (which is what an Apple TV is).

I also want (and think we all deserve) a reply to this question - about to cancel subscription otherwise - paying for nothing at the moment . No problems with any of the other streaming services we subscribe to??? why Apple?

Can you provide a photo of what you are seeing on your screen? That would most certainly help.
