Xfinity

Trying to watch Apple TV through Xfinity. We get picture and background audio (background music, etc) but no voice audio (such as voice from actors). Apple TV is the ONLY 3rd party app we access from Xfinity that has this problem. Xfinity says it has to be an Apple fix. Any ideas welcome!!!!

These audio symptoms are almost always caused by a mismatch between the chosen audio format and the present speaker setup.

If the device is set to send out 5.1 audio when you have stereo speakers, then 4 discreet channels will be without output speaker. Most notably the “center channel” will carry most of the dialog in 5.1 audio — which you seem to be missing.

Setting your device to use Stereo audio will likely solve this.
