search all mailboxes
It may be that an element in the Mail sidebar has changed with Monterey (or perhaps a version or few before). I have a Gmail mailbox, and it shows up in the sidebar as expected. (I have another account mailbox as well, but that is irrelevant here). I want to search not only my inbox(es), but also all the 'folders' I've created with the account (Gmail calls them "labels", I believe, but I don't think that has any bearing here), in one search. Mail help reads:
"To search all mailboxes, click All Mailboxes in the sidebar or All in the Favorites Bar."
There *is* no "All Mailboxes" element in the sidebar; there is only: "All inboxes". In my mind, an inbox is different than mailbox folders; i.e., folders are not part of or subfolders of an inbox. Additionally, I can store mail from a Sent folder in a mailbox folder.
I did a test: emailed myself; moved the message I received to a folder; deleted the sent email and purged the trash; and with All Inboxes selected, did a Search on text (unique to) that message. The message indeed was found.
Based on my findings, Apple should change the sidebar text from "All Inboxes" to "All Mailboxes", to not only match what help says, but to make sense to the user.
I know I can submit a request to Apple; I thought I'd post here in cause I'm overlooking something.
