Apple TV A1469 (Silver remote) not connecting to wifi on Telstra Gen 3 modem

I have an old Apple TV 3rd Gen A1469 (silver remote) that I cannot connect to my wifi on Telstra Gan 3 smart Modem.

The error comes up with 'incorrect password (-100)'even though I have not entered my password.

Also won't connect to my personal hotspot with same error code.

I have reset, restored and tried all the advice with no fix.

I have also tried changing WPA3 to 2 and 3.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

I've done a bit of searching in the forums and this seems to be a recurring problem with some older Apple TV units.

One solution I saw, which might work for you, was to choose 'Other' rather than your network name when connecting, then manually enter your network name and password. This solution worked for the final poster in the conversation Unable to connect Apple TV to Wi-Fi Network. See how you go.

The problem seems to be with the Apple TV and Wi-Fi. Is the unit close enough to your router to try connecting by ethernet cable? You could also see if, once it's connected, you can then remove the cable and it might remember the network to connect with Wi-Fi.

Also, I have a low opinion of Telstra's hardware. Is there any way you can take the Apple TV to someone else's network and see if it will connect to a different router?
