The buttons are not shown but are working normally if you press at the location where they normally appear!

-Top right corner of the print window to print

-Top left of the print window to go back to the previous menu

The print and back buttons are still there just invisible. Literally press the area that the “print” word should be in the upper right hand corner of the print dialog box. This is the same issue with Books in iOS on iPhones as well. Pressing the area will print the PDF as intended. Really not sure why Apple has not fixed this yet. Doesn’t seem like a major undertaking.

Hi there ImatHebron,

Are you able to print anything else from the Books app (if available)? We want to see if the issue is happening anywhere in the Books app or specifically one file/document. Knowing that can help determine possible next steps.

Does restarting your iPad help? Restarting will help refresh the Books app and iPadOS, which may help resolve this issue. If needed, the steps below show how:

"How to restart an iPad without a Home button

  1. Press and hold either volume button and the top button until the power off slider appears.
  2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
  3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the top button until you see the Apple logo."

Those steps, and steps to restart an iPad with a Home button, can be found here: Restart your iPad - Apple Support Please let us know how that goes or if you've already tried restarting.

Take care.

ImatHebron,

Have you tried closing the Books app, and re-opening to test? If not, the steps in the guide here can assist: Quit and reopen an app on iPad

If the issue remains after, and you've already tested the normal restart of your iPad as this isn't expected behavior reach out to Apple Support directly to further assist.

Thanks for posting there is no solution. I surely wouldn’t reinitialize, as updating via a Mac (Finder or iTunes) is purportedly installing an entire new mobile OS. Which ought to accomplish nearly the same thing.

My workaround is switching from my new $1k iPad Air 5th Generation back to my 2014 iPad Air-2 which prints any document.

Seems like if this was a software issue, there would be more chatter about it. Anyone besides us four saddled with this missing button?

I could understand an actual book with DRM not being allowed to print. I am speaking of 2 or 3 page reference documents, or even a recipe formatted for printing. I use the Books app to keep a myriad of documents organized with its Collections database feature.

This issue, as the OP shared, concerns the Print dialogue box opening with all the normal options available – except, no Print button. But thanks for the input.

I have the same issue in iPhone AND I can’t email a document from Books either. No Send arrow or button.

Maybe there is not much chatter because fewer people print?

Closing Books prior to the forced restart, and restarting it afterward did not help. I went down my list of Books and they were all the same.

Restarted printer and changed cartridges.

I had printed a pattern just before the update, so I tried that too. Can’t print it now.

On the iPhone, there is no way to save to files first as suggested, and lot fewer options when using the icon to send, share, print, etc.

Also I post many PDF in Books on my laptop, and when needed I would hook my iPad & Phone to laptop & download some of these PDF to my pad & phone. Now Apple has taken this away & you can only download books into Apple Books. Thought this was a problem with my laptop & went to Apple Store who also thought it was a problem & they made phone call to Apple to find it was a change in the new system that they never informed staff about. They say this is why you can't print from Books. Getting to hate Apple & their dumb changes.
