When I am using Safari, the screen often zooms in when I am using my mouse. Command-0 fixes this, but it is very annoying. I do not have Smart Zoom selected in System Mouse settings. Is there a fix for this that I am missing? It has been doing this even before Ventura.

Hello macphillip,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

Do you currently have any of the accessibility options for zooming enabled? You can check this in System Settings > Accessibility.

macphillip,

Thanks for the information. As the issue didn't occur in safe mode, continue with the section "If the issue doesn't continue in safe mode" as found below from the article previously shared.

"If the issue doesn't continue while in safe mode, leave safe mode by restarting your Mac normally. Then test for the issue again. The issue might be resolved.

If the issue returns after leaving safe mode, startup items are probably at fault. Apps can install such items in numerous places, and they aren't always easy to find or recognize. For that reason, you should first make sure that you've installed any available updates for your Apple software and third-party apps.

If updating your software doesn't help, try any of these solutions:

  • Test your login items.
  • To learn whether software in your user account is causing the issue, set up a new user account, then log in to it and try to reproduce the issue in that account.
  • Unplug all accessories from your Mac, including printers, drives, USB hubs, and other nonessential devices. You could have an issue with one or more of those devices or their cables.
  • Reinstall macOS.

If you still need help, please contact Apple Support."

Should the issue remain and you need to contact Apple Support directly, the links below will help get you connected.

Thanks for getting back to us with that information macphillip, it’s appreciated.

Let’s see if the same happens if you start your Mac in safe mode. Here’s how: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

We also want you to be aware that restarting in safe mode may take a bit longer than usual since it prevents some software from loading and does a check of your startup disk. You may also see some graphic anomalies on your screen as well.

Once your Mac is in safe mode, test the issue. Whether or not it happens in safe mode, restart your Mac normally to exit.

If the issue didn’t occur while in safe mode, please test again after the normal restart.

Please let us know the results when you're able.

All the best.
