Can’t change email address box for Hulu app on Appletv

So, we had one Hulu account with my wife’s email address that we didn’t use anymore and wanted to change the user email in the log in box. but it was basically frozen in the email address log in box on the Apple TV app. We wanted to use a different email address associated with my email to log in that had a different Hulu account free through Verizon. You couldn’t click on the email portion of the box. Deleting, uninstalling, removing the Apple TV as a managed device on our Hulu account didn’t do anything either. I googled this question and nothing worked for me but I tried a few options and this ended up working for me.

Try clicking on the option to do a free trial, when you go through the steps and enter the different email account and go all the way to where you are about to activate the service, Hulu will tell you that this new email account already has an account and do you want to use it. Press yes. Then the new email address should populate in the log in box. This is an absurd solution but it worked for me after 40 minutes of googling, banging my head against the wall, and deciding whether and how to contact Hulu vs Apple.
