Cannot Send Mail - SMTP p63-smtp.me.com Failed

I replied to an email and an error message, "Cannot Send Mail was the result." How do I send a message from my icloud email address. The full error message is: Cannot Send Mail; The connection to the outgoing server "p63-smtp.me.com" failed. Additional Outgoing Mail Servers can be configured for Mail accounts in Settings>Mail>Accounts. [Ok]. " When going to [Accounts] [iCloud], {Name, Phone Numbers, Email] is greyed out. {Passwords...] error code: Account Details Unavailable. If you are singing in to iCloud on another device or at iCloud.com, you can geta verification code while offline. [Get Verification Code] or [Ok]. [Ok} brings you back to the previous screen. [Payment & Shipping are greyed out. The remaining selections are [iCloud], [Media & Purchases], [Find My], and [ Family Sharing] have nothing to do with the smtp server. [Trusted devices list is not available] is greyed out. I'm running iOS 16.2. Please provide some pointers so the smtp server problem can be fixed.

Remove your email account and set it up again

Make sure that all of your emails are there or make sure that your email is saved somewhere other than your device. On your device, go to Settings > Mail, then tap Accounts. Tap the email account that you want to remove. Tap Delete Account.

SravanKrA,

I'm familiar with If you can't send emails on your iPhone or iPad – Apple Support (UK) (document HT201419) I've attempt to resend the email several times as the document suggests. There are no questions about password. Apple is the email provider. Removing the iCloud account doesn't seem like a good idea because I could lose the email. Yes, I know it's backed up to iCloud - iCloud mail is enabled. The details of this action are not fully understood. Remove iCloud from Mail (/thread/8288183) talks about removing iCloud mail. I've lost many files removing in the past. I believe the problem started with the lastest update. I was looking for something more elegant, especially since the problem is with iCloud and me.com.

Nothing has changed except for time and the email started to work but is now working intermittently. No error messages are being displayed.

Test messages with a jpeg file attached started get through. The file size is less then 3MB. They are getting stripped off by Mail. The photo can be seen before the email is sent, but then in the {Sent} folder there is no attachment. The attachment size doesn't seem to be related to the failed sending because larger files are getting through while smaller one's don't.

Test messages with png files attached do not get through. The text portion of the message does get through but the screen shot is stripped off.
