Apple Watch downtime unable to turn it off

Unable to turn off downtime on AW S7. It’s always starting at 2300 until 0700 and it can be turned off only if I completely switch Screen Time which is not the option because I need it.

what I tried until now.

  • updated both Watch and iPhone
  • turn off completely Bad Time in Screen time of the iPhone 📱
  • restarted multiple time phone and Watch
  • unpair and pair watch many times and last time with no backup either (iPhone still uses old iCloud back up though)
  • reinstalled Apple watch app
  • the issue started last year still on iOS 14 in iPhone Xs and I tested and replicated the same issue on iPhone Xs Max, 12 and 13 Pro Max with same issue results.
  • Now I’m using iPhone 11 Pro and it’s the problem persists

So what next? Reset iPhone and try just to sync data with no back up? Getting sick of it

I had the same issue with my SE. I tried everything you tried with no luck.

I had to turn on sync across all devices for screen time, and then completely turn off screen time altogether (not just the downtime option) to deactivate

downtime on my watch.

I was able to turn screen time back on and sync across devices back off without the issue returning

Hey there StepN11,

While you may need to contact Apple Support about this, we first wanted to rule out all we can hear in Apple Support Communities. You've tried some great steps so far, so let's continue ruling out some other possible causes:

  1. Since you have a compatible iPhone model, the latest version is iOS 16.2. You can verify this within Settings > General > About. In case you needed it, this link shows how to first back up, then Update your iPhone or iPad.
  2. As you also have a compatible watch model, the latest version is watchOS 9.2. You can verify this within Settings > General > About. In case you needed it, this link shows how to Update your Apple Watch.
  3. We understand that you've already confirmed it's disabled within your iPhone setting, but when did it start to show Downtime enabled on your watch?

Cheers!

I tried. It didn’t worked. Well I mean if I turn of Sync Across Devices then Downtime is gone but as soon as I turn it on again it’s coming right back and turning off/screen time didn’t helped much. I mean what a horrible bug seriously 😐 can’t use my watch from 23:00 until 7:30 it’s just ridiculous and I can’t turn off screen time completely either cause I need it and it’s not like a proper solution either. So for now I’ll leave it with sync across devices off hopping that some future updates will resolve it although I don’t really believe it since I’m having this issue from precedent iOS so yeah let’s see 😅 but seriously apple from software company became just luxurysh hardware brand all buggy nothing works seemingly like jobs wanted and honestly if they don’t upgrade siri soon I’m done with apple I’ll leave only MacBook and the rest idk 🤷 maybe Nothing 🤭

Hello StepN11,

Screen Time on your Apple Watch is related back to the settings on your iPhone. You'll need to disable downtime within Screen Time via the steps at Set up Screen Time for yourself on iPhone - Apple Support. "Go to Settings  > Screen Time > Downtime" and then turn that off. Then that should sync over to your Apple Watch.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities!

Yeah yeah always on automatic update both devices on latest iOS watchOS. So from the first day, Apple Watch has this issue. But as I said, I used other iPhones and the issue is still the same I had iPhone 13 pro max for like three months this summer before I gave it to my brother and the issue was the same. I’m gonna pair my brothers AW SE though this days to see if the problem will be the same before I proceed with iPhone reset and just sync test with no backup.
