Pages App constantly quits unexpectedly and I lose all of my work
January 17, 2023
I use Pages App version 12.2.1 (7035.0.161) on a MacBook Pro, 16”, 2019 with a 2.6-core Intel Core i7, and I have 16GB of memory. I am running macOS Ventura 13.1.
I am trying to write an auto-biography and Pages quits unexpectedly. A message appears that says, “Click Reopen to open the application again. This report will be sent automatically to Apple”. I can’t begin to read or understand what the report is saying or why Pages quit. This is all well and good, but every time I reopen, all my work is gone, with nothing saved and it is costing me too much time to continue using Pages the way it is.
I finally decided to take screenshots of the error messages and have those on my computer in a file I call Screenshots. In just the last couple of days, I have 16 different
“screenshots” showing Pages quitting unexpectedly about every 10 minutes.
I am looking for anything that might be causing the problem and I have tried the following:
- Shut down my computer and restarted.
- Deleted my Pages App and reinstalled a new copy.
All that I can think of left to do now is:
Is the problem my computer?
Is the problem in the Pages App?
I opened up a Pages Template called “Personal Novel” under NEW and started typing my book. Could this Template be causing the problems?
It hasn’t quit unexpectedly on me one time since typing this report.
THE MORE I TYPE, THE MORE I THINK THE TEMPLATE MAY BE THE PROBLEM. Am I reaching here?
Thank you for any help or suggestions you may have.
