How do I update my Mac past High Sierra 10.13.6?

I cannot load my tax software because it says my MacOS version is not supported. I don't see any updates available. I am currently on MacOS High Sierra 10.3.6. The App Store doesn't show anything for High Sierra. How do I update my OS??

Installing Software on High Sierra:

10.13.6 is the version your are fearing to --not 10.3.6

Get the Correct Installer:

Contact the Developer, asking them if they can prod you with a key for this. Your macOS is obsolete, and you are likely installing 64-bit software on a 32-bit machine. So, get the correct installer, for the correct operating system.

The model year of a MacBook Air is available at Apple menu > About This Mac.

A late 2010 through mid 2011 MacBook Air can be upgraded to High Sierra 10.13.6 but no later version. See: How to download macOS - Apple Support

A mid 2012 MacBook Air can be upgraded to Catalina 10.15.7 but no later. See: How to download macOS - Apple Support

A mid 2013 and early 2014 MacBook Air can be upgraded to the latest version of Big Sur macOS 11 but no later. See: How to download macOS - Apple Support

An early 2015 and a 2017 MacBook Air can be upgraded to the latest version of Monterey macOS 12. See: How to download macOS - Apple Support

A 2018 or later MacBook Air can be upgraded to the current version of Ventura macOS 13. See: How to upgrade to macOS Ventura - Apple Support

Also, if your tax software is TurboTax:

The TurboTax 2022 CD/Download software requires macOS Big Sur or later. See: https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/cd-download/tta-system-requirements

If you can't or don't want to upgrade your macOS, another option is to use TurboTax Online https://turbotax.intuit.com. It is excellent and will run on macOS Mojave 10.14 or newer. See: https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/online/system-requirements
