Stop duplicate texts when texting myself within iMessage

I use iMessage to send myself notes, links, account information, screenshots that are random or come in handy.

For me it’s easier than using the notes app because I am constantly using iMessages.

Now that we got the awkwardness of “why is this chick (me) trying to text herself?”……

before when I had the iPhone 11, I was able to text myself and it would not look like a two-way text with myself. The message thread was only one-sided with blue bubbles only.

Now, after years of putting off upgrading my phone, when I text myself notes it’s sending me back the note I sent so it’s not as appealing to use and it causes the use of more storage unnecessarily.

I know this more of a cosmetic issue for ones preference but I know many other busy bodies that used iMessage to take notes for themselves and recently saw on a different community question that you can tell Siri to text yourself.

I’m not looking for other apps to use to add the content I text myself. So I don’t need suggestions for other apps. I strictly want to use iMessages to text myself that content.

Does anyone know of a work around? I doubt it but thought I’d give it a shot.

Thank you in advance.

You're fine! I text myself too!

You say that it didn't do it when you had your iPhone 11. I had an 11 Pro Max and it did it to me on that.

Yes, double messages, but it didn't bother me. I would simply delete one of them right away.

I think that you could be onto something though and clearly you're not alone.

Who knows, maybe there are more than just you and I that text themselves ;-)

I know you said you don't want suggestions on using other apps but, honestly, I find that I can say "Hey, Siri, take a memo!" and have it create a note in Notes to be something that makes me giggle every time I do it.
