Choose files to upload - show items as

Hello. I have been experiencing annoying issue when trying to upload a file in Safari. I want to see the items as List but every time Columns are selected. Is it possible to switch it and have it as default? I know about CMD + 2 shortcut but those are extra clicks for no reason.

Unable to drag and drop files from Safari download list to other platforms For about a month ago, since then I am experiencing this issue. Once I have download a file using my safari browser, if I drag the file from the download list that appears on the right hand corner of the screen next to share, and try to drop it to any places that allow file drag and drop upload, or even to send that file via WhatsApp, the file appears to be either not accepted by the platform or some platform even says that the files is corrupted, and some even say that this format is not compatible. How do I stop Safari from opening every file I download when done? I often have to download multiple video and picture files using safari and whenever anything completes downloading it opens each file which is really annoying because I lose track of which files I was hovering over when the file opens over it and I have to close the window to get back to what I was working on. I see people saying it's in "preferences" but that seems outdated as I am running MacOS 14.2.1 and there is no preferences section - only settings and the option I see they recommend unchecking does not appear to be there anymore and I can't find anything online other than using the preferences method. Any help is welcome! Thank you.

No longer able to drag downloads directly from Safari Earlier today I updated my MacBook to macOS Sequoia 15.4. Prior to this I was able to drag downloaded files straight from the Safari downloads tab onto my desktop. However after updating I am only able to find these downloads in Finder, or adjust my settings to put downloads immediately onto my desktop. Is there a way to fix this? Although putting them directly onto my desktop works, I'd prefer to be able to drag them where I want immediately myself.

FWIW, Safari remembers the view chosen for me. Don't know why it's not working for you.

Try booting into Safe Mode then restart normally.

It should retain the last view setting you used. It is a global setting, so if you change it in another app, that setting will affect every app.

I don't know where the setting is stored.

This is how it used to work, I guess. But now this view stays the same.
