Is there a way to use Automator and/or Shortcuts to simply enter the current date at the beginning of the name of an email you are saving to Finder as an .rtf file?

I’ve never used either app, and don’t see that option in Automator.  But I need that “current-date-entering” functionality when doing a “Save as” of emails into the Finder as .rtf files.

There may be more elegant ways of doing this but I have one set up using two folders. The first has a folder action attached to it and the second stores the output.

Create your save to folder and decide where you want the output.

Then, create a folder action in automator. Similar to the one below. Select the folder that you save the file to at top (in this case "abc-test"). And set the move finder item to the other folder you wish to store.

Muguy, thank you so much. All that you suggest is brand new to me so it will take a while to learn all the steps. By the same token, I'm looking forward to learning some new things that may prove useful to me in other ways as well. I promise to try to remember to get back here to thank you once I've really managed to do what you have shown me using automator and 2 folder actions..
