iPhone 14 won’t connect to internet via WiFi

My phone constantly stops connecting to the internet. There is no pattern and this happens multiple times per hour. Other devices (computer, TV) are connected just fine, while none of the apps on my phone can reach the internet. WiFi connection is solid and the settings give no indication of a problem. Restarting the phone does nothing.

Useless answer. Did you read what the problem is? A LOT of people is signaling the same problem, me included: a very expensive iPhone 14 Pro cannot see the wifi whereas ALL other devices, included old iPhones, can see it. As usual the answer is: the problem is wifi, not iPhone. Sorry, but I really expect better support from Apple!

Mr.Finch, thanks for your response. My iPhone 14 Pro Max works with other Wi-Fi networks intermittently, and at a rather maddeningly slow pace. For example, I am presently on a Wi-Fi network at my place of employment. When I saw your response, I clicked the link. I received a blank page. I left the phone untouched and after about 35 seconds, I was taken to the log-on page for Apple. Sometimes at work, my iPhone does not follow a link at all until I turn the iPhone Wi-Fi setting off and back on again.

I replaced my Spectrum modem at home with Spectrum’s very latest and allegedly greatest modem about three weeks ago and Spectrum upgraded my internet speed to 1 gb from 300 mbs. The ability to stay connected to the internet seems improved, but is still inconsistent. Before the recent replacement and upgrade, some evenings I would have to cycle my iPhone Wi-Fi setting off and on again every time I wanted to access the internet. Now, I only have to do so three or four times per evening. What I, as an amateur/novice non-techie, find so frustrating is that I did not have this problem with my iPhone 12 Pro Max. It worked every time. I do not have the technical knowledge to adjust the settings on my modem; I merely followed instructions for self installation when replacing the previous Spectrum modem which was only a year old. I am very tempted to purchase a new Wi-Fi router system (another significant expense) but have no way of knowing whether that would bring improvement or downgraded performance, since my one year old Eero mesh system is on of the top rated for the iPhone 14 Pro Max. My iPhone has been tested twice by the local Apple Store and found to be in allegedly good working order. So, yes, I am a frustrated customer who has, in my humble opinion, gone above and beyond in my problem solving attempts in comparison to what should be expected of a customer who recently replaced a perfectly performing $1000 iPhone 12 Pro Max with a $1400 iPhone 14 Pro Max to simply upgrade the camera.

I should also note that my new iPhone 14 Pro Max occasionally freezes up. If I am on a website, for example, and I receive a call from someone, when the call is complete, I am sometimes unable to close the frozen phone call screen until I turn the iPhone off and then back on again.

I am unsure as to where to turn next.

I’m using my new 14 Pro Max and old 11 Pro Max on the same wifi at work. No problems at all with the 11. The 14 barely works and sometimes not at all. When I say barely I mean at best when I click on something it takes about 30 seconds to open. But about half the time it just doesn’t do anything. I’ve tried resetting, power cycling, etc.

Not sure why the 11 works fine but the 14 is worthless here.

Hi

I have had the very same issue connecting to the Wi-Fi, right now. I contacted Apple Support and checked all the forums but could not get the issue resolved.

Today and then thought back on what I have done differently

I had started to download several apps to update them.

A lot of them were stuck in progress.

As ensure that nothing was being downloaded and connected to Wi-Fi.

No problem at all there after.

good luck

Recently, I’ve been experiencing the same problem with apps

I used to have no problem using apps, especially when using food pick up/delivery away from my Wi-Fi area, but the past month or so I’ve had nothing but problems with this!

Just like I had read with one of the post, we spend a lot of money on these newer phones for them to just suddenly deplete actions within apps?!

Same problem and just starting being a problem recently. Doesn’t automatically connect to wifi, even my home wifi like it used to, sometimes says its connected but all apps say no internet connection. Have already tried everything, resetting network setting, off and on both phone and router, won’t connect to what claim to be open networks and of course gives no reason why. This is a serious stupid problem that Apple should at least acknowledge exists and tell us they are working on, presuming that would be the truth.

incredibly frustrating.

IPhone14 is the culprit.

I have several iPhones, computers Mac etc

my new iPhone 14 the only one showing this erratic Wifi behavior.

tried all suggestions for a fix.

resetting the cellular data is the only one that works temporarily but is not a definitive fix.

conclusion IPhone14 model has an issue.

we expect it to work seamlessly but it is just a pain compared to previous models.

not with the money. Apple should do better and find a fix. Otherwise better downgrade to a cheaper model that works.

There are over 100 million iPhone 14’s in use. Pretty much all of them work with Wi-Fi. Have you tried the phone with several Wi-Fi networks, and had the same problem with all of them? If so contact Apple support using the Support link at the top or bottom of this page. If it is only one network the problem is the network. There is no other possible logical conclusion.

When you travel you probably use captive networks (hotels, cafes, Starbucks, etc), which will disconnect when there is no usage for a period of time with no activity. As it doesn’t happen with your home network that would indicate that the problem is with the networks you connect to traveling. Note that your phone will disconnect from any network 30 seconds after it goes to sleep, unless it is plugged in. It does this to save energy, because Wi-Fi uses energy as long as it is connected, whether it is transferring data or not. Most captive networks will consider each time the phone wakes up as a new connection, and require logging in again.

Mr. Finch, I have a Wi-Fi recognition problem with multiple Wi-Fi systems on an irregular basis. When no other iPhone, or iPad or other Wi-Fi dependent device has the same recognition problem, then the thought that it is the Wi-Fi system rather than the sole device (the iPhone 14 Pro Max) that has a Wi-Fi recognition problem is not a logical conclusion either. I have taken my iPhone 14 Pro Max to the local Apple on two separate occasions. Under their controlled environment, and in the allocated time frame, they can not replicate the inconsistency and, therefore, assure me that my iPhone 14 Pro Max meets their standards of operation. Great; except it continues to intermittently report that my Wi-Fi system (and others ) has no internet connection despite the fact that three other devices in concurrent and simultaneous operation have no problem connecting to the internet flawlessly. It is maddening, as many inconsistent and intermittent problems often are.

1). Define "pretty much all of them".

2). Is there an acceptable percentage of ones that don't work properly?

3). What statistical research have you done or have at your disposal to make this statement in the first place?

4). Are you saying that all of us who have had the same issue are lying, incorrect, inexperienced, etc. about the workings of a network and wifi? It sure seems as if you are downplaying the issue. I haven't seen any complaints on here where this issue was limited to a single network. I know my issue occurs on every network I have tried - and that would be approaching 100 different networks.

The VPN solution works! I first tried all the usual suggestions (Wi-Fi on/off, modem reboot, forced restart, reset network settings, etc.). All did nothing. I finally decided to remove my ExpressVPN and my Wi-Fi came right on! This was a brand new 14, still hadn't finished updating all apps and such. It all finished once the Wi-Fi came on after the VPN removal. I suspect I can reinstall my VPN now, but it was definitely the obstacle to my Wi-Fi issue. I don't know what to tell those without a VPN. Good luck finding your answer.

You are fortunate. For those of us who do not employ a VPN, there still is no solution other than to constantly turn the iPhone 14 Pro Max Wi-Fi setting off and on again. A young man at AT&T in Costco gave me the most practical advice so far—since I already pay for an unlimited data plan, simply turn off my iPhone 14 Pro Max Wi-Fi setting and run it purely on 5G where available.
