iPhone 14 won’t connect to internet via WiFi

My phone constantly stops connecting to the internet. There is no pattern and this happens multiple times per hour. Other devices (computer, TV) are connected just fine, while none of the apps on my phone can reach the internet. WiFi connection is solid and the settings give no indication of a problem. Restarting the phone does nothing.

This helped. I had SharkVPN installed and removed it. Fixed the issue and I now have internet across the board. To others still experiencing this: Please remove any third party VPNs from your device. Resetting won't rectify the issue.

Mr. Finch, I can appreciate how iPhones are designed to work; the problem is that mine (and apparently numerous others) don’t work as they were allegedly designed to work. As I stated previously, and as I demonstrated to the staff at Apple here in Greensboro,NC, my iPhone 14 Pro Max doesn’t work as allegedly designed to work. No one seems to care sufficiently to attempt to solve the problem. My IPhone 12 Pro Max worked perfectly with my current Spectrum modem and Eeros router mesh setup. My large screen OLED TV also operated fine on the current Wi-Fi system; my wife’s Samsung Galaxy S22FE also worked fine; my iPad worked fine on the current Wi-Fi system; my wife’s Microsoft Surface worked fine on the current Wi-Fi system; my desktop computer worked fine on the current Wi-Fi system. Everything was copacetic until I purchased a new IPhone 14 Pro Max in early November 2022, the first day they were available for sale. Since that time, amazingly enough, every piece of equipment that uses Wi-Fi continues to work fine on the current Wi-Fi system, except my new iPhone Pro Max. Yet, despite this strange, but true, situation, everyone at Apple continues to blame my Wi-Fi system as the source of the problem. Fine. Please explain why it is the problem with the iPhone 14 Pro Max, but was not the problem for the iPhone 12 Pro Max, nor is it the problem for any other piece of equipment that uses Wi-Fi. Please explain why when I tap on a link in a news article, I am transported to a wheel of spinning death or a blank page, but if I go to my iPhone settings and turn off Wi-Fi, then immediately turn it back on, I am immediately transported to the linked page, website, or whatever. This quick and accurate transfer works perfectly for a random period of time, after which I am again told no internet connection, until I repeat the Wi-Fi turn off and back on process. Please explain how to make my new $1400 iPhone work as well as my old one without the absurd workarounds. Then I will return to the state of a happy iPhone owner.

Interesting, you are dropping out of the thread without having answered my detailed response where I point out that I don’t have a VPN on my iPhone 14 Pro Max and that my previous IPhone 12 Pro Max and every other electronic device using Wi-Fi works perfectly, but my iPhone 14 Pro Max intermittently drops Wi-Fi and requires a workaround (turn the Wi-Fi setting off and on again) to get it to reconnect. Why doesn’t an actual, active Apple employee review this Support site and provide some meaningful support?

Like just about every large company Apple has both formal technical support and an area where users can discuss technical issues with other users. And, like all of those other companies, Apple does not participate in any significant way in the user-to-user discussions, as that might inhibit the free flow of ideas. The formal name of this area is Apple Support Communities. The “Communities” should be a giveaway that this isn’t a formal support site. And if that doesn’t, the site itself is https://discussions.apple.com. The “discussions” is another giveaway.

Apple’s formal support can be reached several ways:

  • You can provide feedback to Apple at→ Product Feedback - Apple where your issue or suggestion will be recorded, but you will not get a reply

Note that both of the above have options to receive a callback or chat

About the only communications method not used by Apple support is inbound email, probably because the volume would be overwhelming, and separating the wheat from the chaff (or, to us engineers, a poor signal to noise ratio) would be almost impossible.

I’m using my new 14 Pro Max and old 11 Pro Max on the same wifi at work. No problems at all with the 11. The 14 barely works and sometimes not at all. When I say barely I mean at best when I click on something it takes about 30 seconds to open. But about half the time it just doesn’t do anything. I’ve tried resetting, power cycling, etc.

Not sure why the 11 works fine but the 14 is worthless here.

IPhone14 is the culprit.

I have several iPhones, computers Mac etc

my new iPhone 14 the only one showing this erratic Wifi behavior.

tried all suggestions for a fix.

resetting the cellular data is the only one that works temporarily but is not a definitive fix.

conclusion IPhone14 model has an issue.

we expect it to work seamlessly but it is just a pain compared to previous models.

not with the money. Apple should do better and find a fix. Otherwise better downgrade to a cheaper model that works.

Mr. Finch, I have a Wi-Fi recognition problem with multiple Wi-Fi systems on an irregular basis. When no other iPhone, or iPad or other Wi-Fi dependent device has the same recognition problem, then the thought that it is the Wi-Fi system rather than the sole device (the iPhone 14 Pro Max) that has a Wi-Fi recognition problem is not a logical conclusion either. I have taken my iPhone 14 Pro Max to the local Apple on two separate occasions. Under their controlled environment, and in the allocated time frame, they can not replicate the inconsistency and, therefore, assure me that my iPhone 14 Pro Max meets their standards of operation. Great; except it continues to intermittently report that my Wi-Fi system (and others ) has no internet connection despite the fact that three other devices in concurrent and simultaneous operation have no problem connecting to the internet flawlessly. It is maddening, as many inconsistent and intermittent problems often are.

This is also true in my case. I should have been more specific. WiFi connects, but not to internet. Other devices on my network connect to internet just fine. I turn off my phone and turn it back on and it connects to WiFi and internet. I have tried turning WiFi off, but this does not help. The only thing that resolves the issue is turning my phone off and then back on again. This most commonly happens in the morning when my phone has been asleep all night, but it has also happened after other long periods when I have not been using my phone.
