Rearranging the photos inside an album

In order to rearrange pictures in an album on your iPhone, follow these steps from Organize and find your photos on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:

Manage your albums

To change the name of an album:

1. Go to the album and tap the More button .

2. Tap Rename Album.

3. Change the name, then tap Save.

To rearrange your albums:

1. Go to Albums, tap See All, then tap Edit.

2. Touch and hold an album and drag it anywhere you want.

3. Tap Done.

With iOS 14 and later, you can also sort the photos within your albums. Here's how:

Go to an album, then tap the More button .

Tap Sort, then choose a sorting option, like Custom Order, Oldest to Newest, or Newest to Oldest.

You mentioned that sorting in a custom order doesn't help; can you let us know more about what happens when you try to sort in a custom order, so we can better assist you?

You should be able to move an individual photo by touching and holding the thumbnail, then moving it to a new location for a custom sort. There's more about that process in this link, which may help: Filter and sort photos and videos in albums on iPhone

Sort photos and videos in an album

1. Open an album, then tap .

2. Tap Sort, then choose how you want to sort the photos and videos in the album.

To move an individual photo, touch and hold the thumbnail, then drag it to a new location for a custom sort.
