Yesterday i updated my iPhone 7 to the 15.7.3 software and now when i get videos via text message, they are too bright. I noticed the videos have "HDR" in the top left corner which was not there before the update. This only happens to new videos that are sent, if i view past videos sent via text message they appear fine. Why is this happening with the software update i installed yesterday?

Same issue. Maybe it's Apple's way of annoying old iPhone 7 and below users so much that we'll eventually buy a new phone. Same thing they did with the battery not holding a charge issue. Code is written to make things break.. intentionally. Hope big brother is listening. But yeh... it's totally an issue with the latest update. 7 and below on 15.7.3 can't play videos sent from other iPhones that recorded in HDR. Tested it today. Had a buddy send me a video with HDR and without from his 12. One without HDR played fine. HDR video was overexposed.

Good then i will switch to whatsapp until no sw fix. Worked fine in the past, now not working, so Apple will fix it :)
iPad 7th gen with iPadOS 16.4.1 (up to date as of April 22, 2023) and I have the exact same problem: overexposed videos sent by iMessage.
Same issue. All of a sudden when i receive a video on my text message and click on it to play its so light that i can hardly see it. This just started about 2 weeks ago. So annoying.
Apple has created a solution.... it's to buy a new iPhone.... They did this same style of tomfuckery with their code implementation that caused batteries to lose charge rapidly.

I’ve had this problem on my iPhone 7 for a while, but today I’m having it on my iPad (7th generation). It’s always from the same sender, I’ve never had the issue from anybody else.
UPDATE: iPad Pro 12.9” fixed the issue…..for $1199.99 later. Insane!
