Does my macforum.com password have to be the same as my Apple pw?

Hi I’m using my Mac iPad and I just got an email from Macforum.com to go on the site but I forgot the password. I was going to change it, but I’m not sure if that will change my Apple password for iCloud. I don’t want to change my Apple password. I don’t remember if they’re the same or not.

They are not. That's an independent 3rd party forum at Mac-Help.com. It has nothing to do with Apple.

If you created an account there, then go there and delete it. That account would have nothing to do with your Apple ID, so your password would not need to be the same for that.

Do not use the same password everywhere.

Duplicate passwords and password re-use means you’re one mistake (a mistake made by somebody unknown at some website you’ve logged in on somewhere) away from massive problems due to what is called “credential stuffing”; just as soon as one website or service has one breach and leaks what are too-often-poorly-secured credentials, those sake credentials are tried (“stuffed”) everywhere else. A Bad Day often ensues.

Use unique passwords, and use iCloud Keychain or another password manager to keep track of the passwords.

Here? Use whatever MacForum has for a password reset mechanism.

If that’s also the same password elsewhere, time to change that password everywhere else it’s been used, too.
