Video capture software recommendations?

Have a Canon camcorder (ZR960) that uses the mini dv format and a 2010 MacBook. I need to capture a few video cassettes for editing and archiving. I have the firewire connections already. What is the best capture and editing software apps (free & purchase ) to use. Thanks for any suggestions.

I am super frustrated, this probably is an easy fix, but I haven't been able to ingest any of my old mini dv footage into my computer. I am using Premiere Pro 2023, I am able to connect my camera and control it in the capture window, but I am unable to to choose my capture settings as there are no options. I can not see video in the capture window and don't have access to record. I am on Mac OS Ventura and am using adapters from firewire mini-800,800-thunderbolt, thunderbolt to usb c. I appreciate any help, as I have a friend with dementia and I want to get her some of these memories. Thank you!

analogue video capture on Mac Studio I recently upgraded to Mac Studio and my old analogue capture setup no longer works. What are the best solutions out there for capturing VHS/Hi8 video on the Mac Studio? Any advice greatly appreciated!

Capture Mini Dv Need help. Im trying to capture footage from a Mini DV. I have all of the adapters to go from firewire to thunderbolt, but my Mac still won't recognize the camcorder. It's a Samsung Camcorder SCD5000.

Hey GDC3,

Which version of macOS is currently installed on your MacBook? To check, Select  > About This Mac.

If you haven't already, we recommend testing Image Capture, which is built-in import software on your Mac:

Use Image Capture to transfer images - Apple Support

Or try importing and editing via iMovie: Import into iMovie on Mac from tape-based cameras - Apple Support

MacOS Mojave

Image capture app does not see the ZR960 (device shows 0) however I am able to import through iMovie. Thanks much!
