Calendar Inbox "Location changed to ..." Messages

Every time we make a hotel reservation, and enter the location into Calendar, we subsequently get a "Location changed to ..." message in the inbox. In all cases, the location is identical to what is already in Calendar. We travel a lot, so clearing these useless messages gets annoying.

Welcome back Jeff Guinn,

We appreciate the update! Just to confirm, does this only occur when receiving an email with the location included to create a Calendar invite?

To test this, let's follow the steps here to turn off Siri Suggestions: Use Siri Suggestions in Calendar on Mac - Apple Support

If you're not using a Mac, let us know which device you're using and we can provide alternative steps. If you are using a Mac, let us know which macOS version we're working with by clicking the Apple Menu > About This Mac. This ensures we provide accurate steps for your particular macOS version.

Thanks!

Hey there Jeff,

We understand you get frequent alerts that the location has changed in the Calendar app. We'd be happy to help you troubleshoot this.

Check to see which calendar the event is set to, in case you have multiple calendars. In the Calendar app on the left-hand side, see which calendar is highlighted.

To help isolate the behavior, test in the iCloud calendar, if available, and add an event to see if the same behavior is experienced.

You can also use these steps to move the events to another calendar:

If the issue continues, test after turning off and back on the Mail account in System Settings > Internet Accounts > [your account] > Mail. Taking this step may help to clear up unexpected behavior with the account.

Let us know if that helps.

Kind regards.

Hi, ManJor:

I am using a 2017 MacBook Pro, 2013 iMac, iPhone XS, iPhone 11, a 2020 iPad, and 2022 iPad Pro. All are up to date. The "Location changed to ..." messages appear in the Calendar inbox for all of them.

I noticed that when Calendar sees the incoming confirmatory emails, it puts them into the "Found in Natural Language" category, whereas I have a Reservations category where the original reservation information goes. Why Calendar flags locations as changed when there is no difference between the original reservation and the subsequent confirmation remains a mystery.

The attached screenshot shows an example. The inbox has a location changed item, and the calendar shows the existing entry.
