MacOS boot and show "select your wifi network" then fails to install required updates.

I boot my Mac. Macbook 2017 15" touchbar.

It asks for the password as usual.

After it shows this screen "select your wifi network". It tris to install something then shows an alert saying "a critical software update is required for your Mac but and error was encountered while installing update. Your mac cant be used until this update is installed".

I tried resetting nvram.

I tried recovery mode + disk aid.

I saw some comments that this because of the firmware of touchbar. Tried booting in safe mode which works fine and then installing latest OS (monterey). This part is really mindblowing, when trying to install the Montrey, it asks for admin password and it rejects it. Dialog just shakes. I'm an administrator. The password is correct (I just typed it to boot the OS).

What can I do to get back to use my MacBook?

Hello mateus273,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. You've done a great job in troubleshooting this unique issue. Safe mode was the right step to take. Since you continued to experience issues, even while in safe mode, we'd like to recommend two more steps you can try. Hopefully we can get this issue sorted out. According to the safe mode resource here: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

It states the following:

If the issue continues in safe mode
If the issue continues while in safe mode, you should reinstall macOS and make sure that your Apple software and third-party apps are up to date.

The next step would be to attempt a macOS reinstall. Just in case, this resource can guide you through those steps: How to reinstall macOS - Apple Support

Intel processor
Turn on your Mac and immediately press and hold Command (⌘)-R until you see an Apple logo or other image.
Reinstall macOS
Reinstalling macOS does not remove data from your Mac. To begin installation, select Reinstall macOS from the utilities window in macOS Recovery, then click Continue and follow the onscreen instructions.

We hope these steps help you out. Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Cheers.
