Finder not responding because of Fileproviderd 100% CPU usage

Hello,

My Finder is not responding anymore.

The items on my desktop are not organised anymore.

I also noticed that Fileproviderd is at 100% CPU usage.

When I open Spotlight Search it is indexing, I left it running for hours but only little progress.

Already restarted the computer, removed Google Drive, OneDrive etc.

When starting up in Safe-Mode I have the same problem.

My machine:

Apple M1 Max

Mac OS Ventura 13.2 (22D49)

Any ideas?

Thanks

Found a solution:

I deleted all files associated with GoogleDrive and OneDrive by Microsoft.

I followed the following suggestion from another online user.

I attempted the steps below, which allows Google Drive Desktop Mac to run normally after login and no crashes occurring when syncing starts:
Did a Time Machine backup just to be safe.
Reinstalled Google Drive Desktop for Mac
Deleted Folder/Files suspectedly related to Google Drive:
/Library/Application Support/Google/DriveFS
/Users/username/Library/Application Support/Google/DriveFS
/Library/Google/DriveFS
/Users/username/Library/Containers/com.google.drivefs.finderhelper
/Users/username/Library/Containers/com.google.drivefs.finderhelper.findersync
/Users/username/Library/Application Scripts/com.google.drivefs.finderhelper
/Users/username/Library/Application Scripts/com.google.drivefs.finderhelper.findersync
/Users/username/Library/Google/GoogleSoftwareUpdate/Actives/com.google.drivefs
/Users/username/Library/Application Support/FileProvider/com.google.drivefs.fpext
Emptied my Bin
Restarted my Mac
Google Drive Desktop app loads up, syncing, asked me for Google Account sigh-in
Google Drive Desktop app running normally, without needing to re-set up my folder preferences etc.

Here a screenshot of my bin with the deleted files.

I did it twice as I missed some files before and I used the in-folder search to find everything related to drivefs and OneDrive.

FileproviderD is now only using 0,2% CPU.

Hope that helps other users.
