MacBook Air M2 Battery Drain Problem While in Sleep Mode

Hi everyone,

I have a problem with battery draining (at the rate that I think is not normal) while the Mac is put on sleep. So, from my observation so far, the battery will drain about 1% every two hours while in sleep mode. I usually only use my Mac for about 2-3 hours every day, and the rest of the time I put it on sleep mode. I consider it as not normal because of tow reasons: 1) because I personally think this rate of draining is not normal, since I don't have any background activities running or whatsoever, and 2) I've seen someone on this forum said that his Mac only loses 2%-3% battery in around 10 hours of sleep mode, which I think should be the reasonable draining. Right now I have latest software installed, which is Ventura 13.2.1.

Can anyone help me?

Thank you.

IDK if you got your solution, but for my M2 Macbook pro 13" the culprit to massive battry drain while in sleep mode was Bluetooth. I use a bluetooth trackball and when you put it to sleep the bluetooth would constantly wake it and search for the device, which is a bug since it shouldn't do that in sleep. So, if I turned off Bluetooth before putting it to sleep that solved it for me.

Hi dyyuan,

Thank you for your reply. Maybe I'll also try that method to see whether it's effective or not on my Mac. Since, you know that if you put your Mac to sleep with WiFi on it will only last for 3 days and many days with WiFi off, does it mean you often leave your Mac on sleep for several days without using it at all? Or you were just doing it (putting the Mac to sleep for several days) for testing the battery endurance?

Thank you.

Hello, did you manage to find any solution? I am facing the exact same issue for the past 4 months. Apart from contacting Apple support specialists, I have visited there service centres many times as well, just like you. They reset the Mac and even with the fresh OS installation, the battery drain on sleep mode keeps happening.

My Mac is barely 8 months old and apart from the warranty, I had purchased Apple Care+ plan as well. Still, Apple simply refuses to resolve the problem. Their support specialists keep repeating the same troubleshooting steps every time I call them and it is very clearly evident that they simply want me to get tired and give up on the issue.

It's ridiculous and an outright fraud.
