Sound icon flashing on Macbook Pro Max M1

Thanks for the reply. Not hooked up via airplay. Yes, other devices have volume controls. I shut-down completely and restarted. Gone. We had a power surge due to a storm, and that's when the flashing icon appeared. Now I know what to do.
