I changed my email for google and gmail. Now, I cannot access my email on my MacBook Pro
late 2011 version. It gives me this: redirect_uri: urn:ietf:wg:oauth:2.0:oob. I was able to sign out of mail on my iPhone and log back in with my update password, but there is nowhere on my MacBook Pro where I can sign out and sign back in with my updated password to gain back access. Any ideas?

I found a solution to this!
- Sign into the Google Account you want to add to Apple Mail
- Go to Settings, and select Security
- Select Two-Factor Authentication, and set this up.
- Once done, at the bottom, you’ll see App Password. Select that.
- Name the app (I used Apple Mail), and generate 16 character password.
- Copy that password
I’ve seen these steps before, and tried and tried to get someone to answer my question of “now what?”, as I couldn’t find anywhere to use it.
Then I tried this and it worked:
- Open System Preferences, and select Internet Accounts
- Scroll the list up, and select “Add Other Account
- In the list, select Mail account
- Enter the Gmail address in “Email address:”
- Paste the 16 character password in “Password:”
It took a few seconds, but then the Gmail account showed up in Apple Mail!
You’ll notice it isn’t displayed as a “G” account in the list of Internet Accounts, but who cares?! It works!

The problem is that the issue it's not just related to the email (just check Gmail using a browser) but to the entire account so neither calendar or any other service is synched. (OSX El Capitan here)

Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

The actual hard part for me was finding the original steps, I was trying to log into my gmail account through the website, but I guess I just needed to go to google.com, log into my account from there go to setting and then follow the rest of your instructions from there. Thank you again! was worried I was going to have to change computers!
I’m not sure I understand. If the account already exists, why are you trying to add it? The problem this thread addressed was being unable to add a Gmail account to Apple Mail on older machines due to Google changes. Check Apple Mail and double check the email account isn’t already there.

Since the gmail password was changed, Apple Mail won't sign on. When I try to change the password, I get the same authorization error that you got. Tried to set up new account per your instructions, but got the duplicate account message. Am reluctant to delete old account from Mac and risk losing data.
For me, this problem was related to just adding the Gmail account to Apple Mail, as the account wasn’t there. I was trying to add it back after doing a restore from backup, and I could no longer add it due to this issue. I didn’t have the problem before I did that, so I’m not sure how your account login was changed on you. My understanding is Google changed the way it authenticates, and older machine’s OSX is no longer compatible. But as long as you remained logged in on Apple Mail, it shouldn’t affect you unless you logged out. If you use MAPI, and you can log in fine via a browser or an app, then removing the account and adding it back shouldn’t hurt you as the email is on the server. My local email seemed fine too as the account email address was the same. But honestly I can’t be sure. You should definitely do a backup though before trying anything like that. Good luck!

Any ideas on this message? I’m just trying to log into my Zoom account, oh yeah…also my email. I am using an older Apple tablet.
