Changed the home directory name, can't go back to the previous one

You definitely don't want to rename a macOS "system" folder such as "/Users". At best you can rename your own macOS home user folder which typically uses a shortened version of a users name. @leroydouglas provided the Apple article with the instructions for that change, but read & follow the instructions carefully as each step is important.
