Command key will only generate math symbols, not perform standard commands. (Fix found)

After a significant amount of troubleshooting in settings with no luck, I eventually found out that the cause of the problem was that the keyboard I was using was somehow switched over to "windows" mode. On some keyboards (Mine is a KeyChron) there is a switch normally on the side of the keyboard to switch modes for different operating systems. Switching it back to "MacOS" fixed the problem.
