USB SuperDrive loses connection

Using MacBook Air with M2 chip. Able to see DVD disc and read files on discs. However now not able to burn onto a new RW disc. Get following error message: The disc can’t be burned because communication between the computer and the disc drive failed (error code 0xFFFFFFFF80020022).

Have checked compatibility and tried starting in safe mode. Everything points to device being able to burn yet above error message continues to appear.

Tried resetting the PRAM/NVRAM. That did not work. So made one final attempt. I downloaded Disc Erase Pro (free) and erased the DVD (was unable to do so with Disc Utility as that did not recognize the DVD). BINGO! That worked and now have been able to burn to a DVD.

Hope this helps anyone who encounters a similar situation. Thanks to all who have responded.
