our computer is used by the whole family - however the messages app is private. Can I add a password to this app so it is not accesable to everyone who uses the computer?

Hi there!
You need to create multiple user accounts on your Mac: Add a user or group on Mac - Apple Support. Each user account can be protected by a unique password.
If you're sharing Apple IDs, I'd also recommend that each user have their own: Make sure that each family member has a unique Apple ID - Apple Support.

Thank You - I think iv resolved my issue by going into Messages; Settings; and removed my phone number, this has left Messages on the iMac signed out. I don't need Messages on the iMac and happy to only have access to this on my phone.
Hi,
I think this isn`t possible.
Only solution for this problem is create new users with diferent apple id.
I think this helps you.
Luke
