Blocking my Apple balance of almost 2 thousand dollars for a month
I'm from Peru and I wanted to buy a 4600 dollar macbook pro for my work on apple.com (it's the best macbook with 1TB + US taxes).
Since my credit card from Peru is not accepted at Apple.com, Apple agreed over the phone that it would be a good idea to buy the $4,600 in giftcards at Amazon.com, which I did (Amazon accepts my credit card). I tried to add the 4600 dollars to my apple balance but it only leaves maximum 2000 dollars, so I added almost that amount and the rest I have in giftcards and I added them at the time of purchase (apple allows you to use your balance and add up to 8 gift cards at the time of purchase)
I paid a courier to receive the product in Miami and then bring it to Peru.
I made the purchase on apple.com and the next day they canceled it and my apple balance was blocked.
It's been a week and after 2 requests they say have blocked my balance of almost 2 thousand dollars for 1 month!
In other words, I did everything right, having consulted by phone before doing it and having approval from Apple, but they have blocked me and now I will have a one month delay in the purchase because of this blocking.
In that period Apple is not even going to confirm that I am the one who is making the purchase. That is to say that if within a month, after unlocking, I try to make the purchase, they can block me again.
This is an arbitrary block and they are seriously hurting me.
I need the macbook and I did everything right buying giftcards to buy my macbook and now my Apple balance is blocked (and apple can probably block me again when I try to buy in a month).
The worst thing is that I practically already paid the $4600 and I can't use it anywhere else. I have to wait 1 month and Apple can block me again if they want!
Anyone else has happened?
Maybe it's a good idea to never have a balance sheet at Apple?
