Connect 2x 30' Cinema Displays to MacBook
Hi!
In my mission to not let my beautiful 30’ Apple Cinema Displays go to waste, I want to properly use them with my MacBook Pro (2019, 16 inch).
For both displays I have an original Apple Dual Link DVI adaptor to convert to Mini DisplayPort. I also have the Mini DisplayPort to USB-C adaptors, similar to the well known Uptab.
I assume everything can be connected right now, with the adaptors I have. But since the USB cables from the DVI > MiniDP adaptor also have to be connected, that would leave me with no ports on my MacBook left for charging, ethernet or other accessories.
I’m looking for options to connect *both* of them trough a dock, hopefully with only 1 cable going to my MacBook. Is there anyone who has pulled this off?
Requirements:
- Connect *two* 30’ Apple Cinema Displays
- Simultaneously & in Extended mode
- Wired Ethernet
- At least 96w Power Delivery (needed for my MacBook)
- No DisplayLink other drivers
- As least cables as possible
Would be nice:
- Single Thunderbolt Connection with MacBook
- Options for SD card, Hard Drives etc.
- Everything still works when I upgrade to the M1 or M2 MacBook Pro
I know the 30' Cinema Display can be picky in terms of connectors. I'm really searching for the right solution here. Hopefully there are other people who have done this before.
Would be glad if anyone could help!
Thanks in advance :)
