Take the phone to the seller and have him remove the lock on the phone. The phone is useless otherwise.

Here is what the seller must do:

Either get your money back or recycle the phone. It is utterly, totally, completely useless to you.

iPhone SE locked to owner please help me to unlock

Activation Lock is intended as a theft deterrent, and is intentionally difficult to bypass.

Contact the owner. That owner is seemingly not you.

Which means this iPhone is effectively if not actually a lost or stolen device.

Until and unless the owner of this iPhone releases that lock, it will remain unavailable and useless.

We can’t help you, and absent proof sufficient to convince Apple of your ownership, Apple won’t.

If you triggered lost mode and then recovered the iPhone, and forgot the unlock passcode, see the unlock sequence (Turn off Lost Mode on an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple Watch) here:

If that doesn’t release the lock, you will have to discuss this directly with Apple.

thanks for your help and MrHoffman as well, but it looks like the phone has been reported as lost or stolen. Seller gave me icloud credentials and I removed the device from there, however I still see the same message when trying to set up the new phone..also I ran a check on imei info and apparently the phone is clean and not blacklisted, so I’m lost?

If the seller refuses to give your money back, recycle the phone as it is totally useless to you. You've likely been scammed, which is very common.

If you can get no Activation Lock unlock, or get a blacklisted device, and can get no refund, then you bought a forever-useless brick.

That means you got scammed.

AFAIK, there’s only one actual service that can check the blacklist, or your carrier can check. I would not trust the rest of the online services.

CTIA is the industry group in this area:

https://www.ctia.org/consumer-resources/preventing-device-theft

and they run a checking service here:

https://stolenphonechecker.org/spc/

Other websites may well collecting valid IMEIs for spoofing, without even looking anything up, for instance.

And a phone can be added to a blacklist after purchase, as is common with some scams. Those that have some sort of theft or loss coverage, for instance. This makes blacklist checking less than useful.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Apple provides a procedure to request access to a deceased person's account. You will need a death certificate and probably also a court order.

Do NOT post your Apple ID or Password on a public forum visited by millions of people from around the world. We cannot unlock your phone. But you can by following the directions in this link, which requires erasing the phone using your computer with Finder (Mac) or iTunes (Windows) --> If you forgot your iPhone passcode - Apple Support
