HDMI Port damaged after the adapter was plugged in

Hi, I'm using Macbook Pro 15" Mid-2015.

While connecting to the TV via the HDMI port, I plugged the adapter into the socket to charge my MBP. Then the TV shut down and the HDMI port wasn't working anymore.

Could anyone tell me what really happened? It seems that the TV was damaged and so did the HDMI port on the MBP.

Thank you.

Sounds like the port may be damaged; I'd recommend having Apple examine the port to see if there is any damage. The TV may not have worked because there was no signal from the HDMI port.
