transferring iTunes library

Hello everyone, I have an older Mac (2014) and am still running Mojave because I still use iTunes. I am planning to either upgrade or get a new Mac in the near future, but am terrified of doing so until I have safely copied my entire iTunes library to a different computer. I have a new HP laptop running Windows 11, and an older iPad (2015). Also -- I love my iPod Classic and have my iTunes library on it. Am uncertain about using it with Apple Music but also not sure it would be compatible with Windows version of iTunes. Any thoughts? I am really hoping to keep iTunes somewhere, and especially to be able to keep using my iPod Classic. Thanks much, Carol

I think there is some confusion here. While the Apple Music subscription service cannot be used with iPod Classics, the Apple Music application that is provided in macOS 10.15 Catalina and later (see What happened to iTunes? - Apple Support) can be used to manage content on an iPod classic.

See Move your iTunes library to a new computer - Apple Community for details on how to move/copy your current iTunes library to a new computer.
