iPhone 13 black screen won’t turn on

My iPhone is less than 6 months old, and I am getting the black screen when trying to turn on. Force reset seems to work. My question is-is this a defective iPhone and should it be returned. Seems wrong that I am having trouble with anew phone. Thank you

iPhone 13, iOS 16

If you are facing the iPhone's black screen of death issue, don't be afraid because it can be fixed. But, before you try to fix it, you should understand the reason behind it. There could be two reasons:

  1. Hardware-related issues
  2. Software-related issues

If it is hardware that is causing the issue, you'll have to get that part repaired/replaced at the Apple Service Center. But, if you are facing the black screen issue due to a software related issue, it can be fixed at home by yourself (in most cases).

There are however plenty of third-party tools available on the internet that help recover the black screen of your iPhone. One of those tools that I personally tried is Dr. Fone's iOS System Repair. You can read a detailed guide on "How to Fix iPhone Black Screen" in this article: https://allusefulinfo.com/how-to-fix-iphone-black-screen-using-dr-fone-system-repair/

I hope this will help.

Thank you!

If you already tried (to no avail) a "forced" restart process: put it on charge for at least half an hour, then, keeping it plugged in, use these correct gestures:

Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the side (power) button. Only when the Apple logo appears (it might take 10-20 seconds), release that button (ignore all other screens that might appear, the one with the "slider" to turn the device off included).

If the issue persists, it could be a hardware (battery? screen? other internal component?) failure but we, just users like you, cannot diagnose that issue remotely, sorry.

I suggest that you make an appointment (*) and have your device inspected at an Apple Store or AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) among this list:--> https://locate.apple.com/choose-country-region . After checking it out, they'll give you all the available options.

Regards

Giulio
