I tried installing MacOS Ventura on my Mac Mini.
I got an awful migraine, while trying to go through the new System Settings. I know that web pages with 2 separately-scrolling sections side by side... like most these days... also give me migraines and motion sickness, although some browser hacks can help.
I read that Monterey still has the old System Preferences, so it might work.

The Method Below will Wipe ALL DATA including any Partitions

This method will WIPE ALL Data and there is No DATA Recovery - Period.

About Startup Security Utility and Must Enable from Recovery Mode the ability to boot from External Drive Before Attempting
1 - Shutdown computer and disconnect all external drive Except the newly created Bootable Installer.
2- Restart and immediately hold the OPTION key until the Startup Manager appears and choose the USB Drive.
3 - It will present options >> Disk Utilities >> View >> View ALL attached Drives.
4 - Choose the Upper Most Drive ( not the volumes indented and list below ).
5 - The drive normally is called Apple Media or Apple SSD - that is the drive to Erase and format as APFS with the GUID Partition Map. This applies to macOS 10.14 Mojave and above.
6 - Once that is done >> backup out of Disk Utilities and choose install macOS.
7 - Follow the prompts and it may automatically reboot several time.
8 - Upon a final reboot - Setup Assist will present with the newer version of macOS.
Not sure what OS you had originally but you could boot into recovery, erase the drive and then reinstall the OS. It will install the original OS that came with your Mac. You could then upgrade from that point to the OS you want. I just did this the other day on one of mine.
Recovery mode doesn't work for me. At best, it requests intenet recovery, and then if I track down the wifi data, it freezes for several hours.

Thanks. I'm going to try mirroring Ventura to an e-ink tablet to see if I can get the System Settings sorted out that way, but I'm not confident. If that doesn't work, I've bookmarked the relevant pages.

So I got an awful migraine again. Something about Ventura just hurts.
I couldn't set up screen mirroring, to see if that would let me navigate System Settings. Maybe if I could navigate System Settings, I would have been able to set up screen mirroring, and fix the rest.
I deleted the Ventura partitions. I am still getting some errors when I log in on my old partition.
Is it still possible to install Monterey?
