MacBook Pro (2018) Camera stopped working

Whenever I start a app that uses the video camera (e.g. QuickTime, FaceTime, Photo Booth) the app shows a black screen where the video should appear. On startup of the app, the light indicator of the camera turns on for a few seconds (although no video seems to be captured).

I already tried everything outlined here:

Any advice on how to fix this?

Sounds like a hardware failure. Have Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider examine the laptop to provide you with a repair estimate.


Edit: Make sure the camera is not physically covered/blocked.
