Solving [error code -8072] (Not caused by emptying trash)

I previously accidentally deleted by Desktop and Downloads folder, but managed to restore my Downloads folder.


However, it seems that I did not successfully restore the Desktop folder. When attempting to create a new folder on my desktop, a pop-up appears, reading: "The operation can’t be completed. An unexpected error occurred (error code -8072)."


I am aware that some of the common causes are permission problems with deleting certain files, though I believe that forcefully emptying the Trash might not work for this, and would like to know if there are other, better solutions.

See your user/home/folder?


Finder>Settings>Sidebar>Desktop?




Were you using iCloud Desktop & Documents...?
