920.7 Mbps upload Speed and iCloud Synch is PAINFULLY slow from iMac to iCloud

We just got AppleOne and I want to upload my +20000 photos and videos from my iMac to iCloud.

I have a super fast wired internet connection: SONIC Fibre with 920.7 Mbps upload - so my internet connection cannot be the reason for the super slow upload of my iPhotos from my iMac to iCloud. I assume Apple is throttling the upload to maintain bandwidth?!

Does the upload stop when the computer goes to sleep? How can I prevent my iMac going to sleep? I can't find an option for this.

I'm migrating computers soon and it would be very helpful to have all my stuff synched by that time.

Any help is appreciated to increase the upload speed.

The initial sync of photos can take a long time. A library of 20,000+ may take days to perform the initial sync. Syncing continues so long as the device is on. Just leave it powered and connected and the device will sync.
