PERSISTENT PROBLEM: Duplicated emails in Mail (Outlook) Sent folder

Has anyone found a solution to this four year old issue?


One support person gave instructions that sound appropriate, however the crucial step in the series no longer exists on newer devices.


Someone else "solved" by deleting his Outlook account and setting up Exchange. First, I don't want to lose all my emails by deleting my decades old account. Second, I have no idea how to do what he says he did. For me, this problem only came about when I bought my MacBook Air. I did not see it happening when using the same Mail program with Outlook on my iPad or iPhone.


Any help appreciated.

The reason you get duplicate emails is because after you send an email and it goes to your sent folder it also goes to the server which in turn downloads it again to your sent folder. This is how to stop that:

Open Outlook preferences, accounts, advanced then folders. Then on the sent section to the right click on the drop down menu. Check sent items (on my computer). This will remove them from the server after you send the email and no more duplicates.
