Commented before, but I am still having this issue. On a fairly regular basis I need to re-enter the password on my iPhone XR. Basically the phone keeps disconnecting from WiFi and 'forgetting' my WiFi password. The really odd thing is that it's also happening on my 11 year old iMac. This makes me wonder if there is something weird happening in keychain.

That being said, it is not an issue with my work iPhone (11) or work macbook. Obviously this is on a 'separate keychain'.

Since I updated my IOS to 16 i cannot access my wifi and my fone keeps hanging and restarting. I did not have any issues prior to updating my IOS.

I went to istore to help me fix the problem but they told me my board is damaged and there is nothing i can do but buy a new one to replace. Is this part of apple’s plan to force people to buy new fones? My fone is XR

I don't see the relevance of asking for the battery life of their phones because most of the users have only started complaining about intermittent wifi and lost wifi passwords since the most recent update, or is this just coincidence. Has Apple altered a few global settings along the way?

We have four or five Apple devices including various generations of iPhones and iMacs that randomly forgot the wifi password and from different locations (as in home and work), so, as someone else has commented on here, rather than an iOS issue which obviously won't affect the older iPhones or the iMacs, has the keychain password protocols been altered/tweaked in some way which is causing the issues, just seems to be the common element which ties all these devices together?

richvid ~ Because the long process of applying an iOS update to an old iPhone with a weak battery can be the proverbial "straw that broke the camel's back."

...And when a weak battery reaches a tipping point, a variety of problems can occur – including intermittent Wi–Fi. Each device has to be assessed individually and I don't ask about the battery health of newer model iPhones.

Sorry, when I re-read my post it sounded rather harsh, that wasn't the intention, was just considering what connected all the issues together.

Am sure a message on the screen requests that users connect to the power supply when they update their phone, but like you say, a few may ignore the message not appreciating the grief that may occur if it shuts down halfway through the update process.

I have an original SE which I still use in the house on wifi, and due to its age I can't update the iOS, plus its battery life is pretty abysmal and needs to be changed, nevertheless it also forgot the wifi password at the same time as all the other more modern kit, and did suffer from losing quite a few photos due being unable to connect to the iCloud for a few days last week, but it now seems to have fixed itself, or should I say, whatever was causing the issue has been fixed, makes me wonder whether it is more of a global problem than an iOS problem.

Like you say, it's good to be thorough.

I’ve started having this issue, where my iPhone 13 Pro Max running iOS 16.4.1 connects to wifi, successfully, but then seconds later disconnects. I have been running iOS 16.4.1 for a while so I’m not sure why the issue has just started happening. So far to troubleshoot, I’ve tried forgetting the network, power cycling the phone, & then today I reset my network settings. The issue still persists.
